I love May, the flowers are blooming, the birds are chirping, the days are staying lighter for longer and spring is in the air along with the savings. There are a ton of May sales and freebies to help keep your budget on track this spring.

“May the 4th be with you” –

If you are a Star Wars fan, you’ll be happy with all of the deals on May 4th. Look for deals from Starwars.com, Best Buy, Disney, GameStop, Hot Topic, and Lego. Save 20% off Star Wars toys, clothes, and more at Target in-store and online on May 4th only.

Cinco de Mayo –

Most Grocery stores will still be having awesome deals. Look for sales on avocados, cheese, ground beef, salsa, tortillas, tortilla chips, and refried beans. This is one sale I look forward to all year, lots of my favorites at stock-up prices.

Gardening and Outdoor –

In many locations, May is the perfect month to start your garden.  Look for deals on flowers, hoses, mulch, plants, plant food, seeds, soil, watering cans, and weed killers.

Mother’s Day –

Don’t expect to see great sales on traditional gifts like jewelry and flowers. But you should see some great prices on home goods, candles, cookware, and small kitchen appliances.

Memorial Day –

Memorial Day Sales should include some high-ticket items. You should see deals on furniture, including indoor and outdoor furniture and office furniture. Air conditioners and large appliances will also be discounted at many stores on Memorial Day. You will see sales on mattresses from 50-70% off at retailers such as Macy’s, Target, Overstock, Walmart, and your local independent Mattress stores on Memorial Day weekend.

Paper Products –

There are usually great deals on paper products during the month of May. You should see specials on paper plates, picnic, and party supplies towards the end of May.

Thrift Stores –

May is always a great month for Thrift Store shopping. Spring cleaning has been happening in many homes for the past month. Your local thrift stores should be well-stocked with new inventory from spring cleaners. Check out your local Salvation Army, Goodwill, or independent thrift store to find some excellent deals this month.

National Nurses Week –

National Nurses Week is May 6th through the 12th annually. Nurses can get free food, apparel, classes, and more. Here are some of my favorite deals:

Health Care Coupons– Available on select items through Amazon, up to 50% off. You do not need to be a healthcare worker to qualify.
