These tasty Garlic Steak Bites make their way into our dinner rotation quite often. The bite-sized pieces of steak are marinated to ensure that every bite is packed full of flavor. They are perfect served as the main dish, but can also be served as an appetizer for the big game.
Steak bites can be made with almost any steak or roast. Sirloin, filet mignon, ribeye, or New York steak are all good choices. I avoid stew meat because it can be too tough. I like this recipe for game meat as the marinade helps mask the gamey flavor some wild meat has.
Cut steak or roast into bite-sized pieces around an inch or smaller, all similar in size so they cook evenly. Place steak pieces in a gallon-size resealable bag. Mix up the remaining ingredients and add them to the bag. Seal the bag while pressing out excess air then massage the marinade into the steak, mixing all of the ingredients together.
Allow the meat to marinate for at least 30 minutes. I usually allow it to marinate for several hours, I’ve even premade several bags and put them in the freezer for later use.
I like to serve these delicious steak bites with roasted or grilled vegetables, mashed or baked potatoes, or a tasty side salad.
Garlic Steak Bites
Ingredients
- 1½ pounds of steak or roast cut into bite-sized pieces
- ⅓ cup olive oil
- ½ cup soy sauce (low sodium soy or coconut aminos may be used)
- ⅛ cup Worcestershire sauce
- 4 cloves minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp dried basil
- 1 Tbsp dried parsley
- ½ tsp garlic powder
Instructions
- Cut steak into similar bite-sized pieces. Mix all the marinade ingredients together and pour over the steak pieces. Massage the marinade into the steak pieces.
- Marinate in the refrigerator for 30 minutes up to 24 hours. The tougher the cut of meat the longer you will want to marinate it.
- Heat a cast-iron or heavy skillet to medium-high heat. Remove steak pieces from the marinade and place them in the hot skillet. Discard the remaining marinade.
- Cook for 1-2 minutes, you want to make sure you get a good sear on them but don't overcook them. Turn them over and cook for another 1-2 minutes or until done to your preference. If your skillet isn't big enough, you may need to cook the steak in batches.
